10 Days Itinerary for Taiwan – Taiwan Travel Guide Advice

This is a trip to stay in 3 cities. The destinations include four cities: Kaohsiung, Taichung, Nantou, New Taipei and Taipei. Personally, I feel that staying in three cities for 10 days is a bit rushed. If you want to travel independently throughout the trip, it is not very realistic because many attractions in Taichung and Kaohsiung require chartered vehicles. Therefore, for places that cannot be reached by the MRT, a day trip is recommended.

It is strongly recommended to go to a farther city first and then make Taipei your last stop, so that you can be closer to the airport and avoid being delayed in catching your flight on the last day.

How many days in Taiwan is enough?

5 to 14 days of self-guided tours are the ideal amount of time to experience Taiwan, but five days only allows you to visit Taipei and New Taipei City. If you have 7 to 10 days, you can experience the three additional cities of Taichung, Nantou, or Kaohsiung. If you want to travel around Taiwan, two weeks is a good choice. Although it is impossible to stop in every city, it can at least cover most of the major popular cities. This island tour along the coastline will allow you to appreciate Taiwan’s unique natural, cultural, and historical features.

Day 1-3 Kaohsiung

If you come to Kaohsiung in the summer and want to go to Kenting, it is recommended that you stay in Kaohsiung for one more day.

Day 3: Transfer to Taichung and Independent Travel

Taichung’s MRT lines are still not as dense as Taipei’s, so you can only rent a motorcycle or car to go to Gaomei Wetland, Sun Moon Lake or Alishan. If time is limited, it is recommended to take a one-day tour, which is simpler, more convenient and safer.
